Accelerating Rural Africa's Digital Inclusion

AgroCenta, a pioneering agritech startup in Ghana, is transforming the agricultural landscape by enhancing market linkages and promoting financial inclusion in the agricultural value chain. Focused on empowering smallholder farmers, it aims to address their critical challenges and significantly boost Africa's agricultural sector.

Founded by Francis Obirikorang and Michael Ocansey in 2015, AgroCenta operates as an online platform designed to connect smallholder farmers engaged in staple food production to an expanded online market. It also facilitates access to truck delivery services and provides farmers with real-time market information through SMS and voice services on their mobile phones. Additionally, by enabling farmers to embrace digital payments, the innovative AgroPay service helps establish credit scores and access financial services.

As of January 2020, AgroCenta has made a substantial impact, reaching over 3,500 smallholder farmers through the AgroPay platform, with an impressive active user base exceeding 36,200 farmers. The award-winning company has actively engaged with farming communities by hosting over 500 farmer engagement sessions and raised $2.1 million since 2018.
